Structures and Environment

The interaction between structures and their environment is the focus of this research area, which includes the mitigation of risks of both natural and anthropic origin as well as the sustainable use and the promotion of the natural resources. A central role in this context is played by the interaction among water, soil and structures, conditioning the design of civil and environmental structures and infrastructures like embankments and breakwaters, tidal plants, wind towers, offshore structures, pipelines, tunnels, under both operating conditions and earthquakes, fire and explosion actions.
